Easter Time is just around the corner. You are more than welcome to let me know how you plan to spend your Easter Day, regardless of whether it includes chocolate or not. I am not certain just yet what my plans are, but do know for a fact that I will indulge in a chocolate cake of some sort, whether it is home made or store bought. There is an amazing place in the Vancouver vicinity. It is called Trees Organic Coffee. Their cheesecakes are absolutely fabulous, that is what they are famously known for. There is even a chocoholic cheesecake that made the menu. Wow! I commend them for that choice of flavour, although I must say that the Sin cheesecake is my utmost favourite. I advise everyone to check out this place. If you are a coffee lover, then there is even more of a reason for you to visit. You will not be disappointed. I am not in any way affiliated with the company, it is just my honest opinion. I promise I will eventually get to the reviews, but I must first ask my audience a very important question. Are you ready? Okay, here is my question: if I bake something, anything for that matter that is affiliated with chocolate whether it is chocolate, cake, cookies, muffins, pie, pancakes, raw desserts, ice cream etc., are any of you out there interested in me listing the ingredients, and step by step instructions? I would rate the dessert as well of course rate. Yes, you heard me right, rate my own product, in an unbiased honest and truthful manner. I would look at the baked good as though it is someone else’s. Please leave a comment and let me know. I am more than happy to do so. Anyhow, my chocolate apron is looking a little bit dusty, and needs to be revitalized. This will give me a reason to take it out, and bake once again. It was truly something that I used to love doing. My time has been limited lately, and the baking got lost somehow. Please say YES! Okay, this is getting emotional now, on to the review.
This assorted pack of chocolate eggs come in three variations: white chocolate (the golden wrapper), milk chocolate (the red wrapper), and dark chocolate (the blue wrapper). I will begin with the white chocolate and make my way up. The egg is filled with a smooth centre, as all of the other flavours, oh so good. It melts beautifully, before I can even exclaim delicious. Rich in taste, but I must say that it is overly sweetened. The sugar content is overwhelming. It would have been just as good if the sugar was cut in half. I also do not fancy the artificial flavour or palm kernel oil in this egg, actually, all three of the chocolate eggs contain them. A substitution that is not so synthetic would have been appreciated. The white chocolate egg does retain a long-lasting, overpowering sweet taste that is not pleasant at all. The milk chocolate egg on the other hand is much more satisfying. Cacao is added of course (there is no cacao in the white chocolate), and the sugar content is less prominent. The melt is superb once again, due to the cocoa butter that Lindt uses in a lot of their products. That is the key to the smoothness of their chocolates. I am though, able to taste a tinge of bitterness, perhaps it is the hazelnut flavour or barley malt extract. It is not indeed negative but gives off the impression as though there is a bit of an alcoholic liquid inside, even though I know that is not the case. Lastly, the dark chocolate egg, is the best one of all three. Certainly, the higher cacao content helps. It is much more bitter but without the strange questioning of what is inside. A bit on the nuttier side as well. Very nice. I would certainly purchase the dark concoction once again. A true delight. Please note that these are NOT Gluten Free Products. The Barley Malt Extract is the issue. If you do not have a sensitivity to that ingredient, then please, help yourself! PS Please do not forget to leave a comment whether you would like to see recipes on this blog. I will be more than happy to accommodate.
