Hello delightful sweethearts, my name is Soriah, and I am an enormous lover of fine chocolates. Prior to me truly introducing myself, I would like to take the time and dedicate my whole blog to my beautiful, wonderful, caring, devoted, and always-has-your back type of a Tatko (father in Bulgarian), did I say ALWAYS! He taught me morality, discipline, hard-work, commitment, kindness, and the importance of family. I owe everything to this amazing man, who's smile illuminated the world. He was my sunshine! My Tatko - September 9, 1945 - July 9, 2016.
After getting that off my chest, allow me to up-close-and-personally introduce myself.
I am a chocolate fanatic, so much that I often drive hours just to try a new chocolate cake, chocolate croissant, chocolate cookie, chocolate milkshake, okay, okay, you get it, anything chocolate infested. Yes, I am that person! I enjoy strolling through charming little towns or villages, and accidentally finding a hidden gem situated in the corner, full of delicious chocos, just ready to be devoured. I realized that I had a great love for chocolates from a very young age, 6 to be exact, when my father would bring me back from his business trips lots of Kinder Surprise Eggs, Toblerone, and Nutella to eat as I please. From that point onwards, I began to request and taste all sorts of chocolates. You named it, I tried it. However, I ended up developing a richer taste for the finer kinds of chocolates, the ones that come in a beautifully wrapped box with a pink ribbon on top. I decided at last that I would like to share my adoration for chocolates with the rest of the world. That is when my blog finally came to life. Welcome! Here you will find my journey of immense enjoyment of chocolate sampling from all parts of this universe. I document the places that I visit, the chocolates that I devour, and the ingredients of each indulgence. I rate each item in an unbiased manner as I am not associated with or sponsored from any chocolate company. This blog will also help guide you when in hunt for an extra special decadence, whether for holidays, birthdays, weddings, an extraordinary occasion, or perhaps just to make your day marvellous and sweet. You will always be able to revert back to this blog for places to go, and things to try.
When I am not in search of yummmmmilisciously new chocolates, I spend my time studying. I am a pre-med student, in my third year of a Bachelor of Science degree. In addition, I am also studying a holistic nutrition program which I believe helps me greatly to understand the impact that overall lifestyle has on diseases. I have a passion for food, and most importantly, how it affects the human body on a molecular level.
A few years ago, I obtained my Unrestricted Class 1 Driver’s License. Yes, I can drive the big trucks with an 18 speed manual transmission. Wooohoooo! My trucking career is on hold for now, but I am looking forward to getting back to driving once or twice per week in the very near future. Regardless of how scary or big whatever you might be doing is, remember, it is never scarier than the regrets of not having tried at all. "God placed the best things in life on the other side of terror."
I am also a tennis player. I practice and train to compete in tournaments, not just slap a ball. This sport is much-loved, and I hold utmost respect for players who go out there solo, play strategically on their own, and grind every ball down for up to 5, 6, or even 7 hours. It is absolutely powerful.
I have four furballs (dogs) that I am absolutely and utterly in love with. One of my boys is a German Shepherd from Germany, yes purebred. My other boy is an American German Shepherd, once again purebred and as you guessed it, American. I just welcomed a new addition to my pack. His name is Bill and he is a Southeast Asian Village Dog. Yes, as unique as that sounds, it is a breed. 3/4 of the world dog population fall within that breed. His nickname is Kill Bill since he is truly a killer at heart. On the tiny side, I am a proud mamma to one beautiful female miniature Pomeranian. As you guessed it, she is the boss of the house. They all have wonderful personalities, and their own unique characteristics. I am a very lucky girl, as each one of my dogs brings their own sparkle to my life. There is not a day that goes by where they do not make me grin from ear to ear at least a dozen times.
I have an adoration for travel. Anyplace is lovely but Italy is my weakness. It must be the air!!!!!
I am a vegetarian foodie. Yes, I do love to eat, and a whole lot of it!!! Alongside this healthiness, I have been devoted to exercise since my teen years. My go to preference is weightlifting. No, it does not make you look bulky, just amazing and fit if that is the look you are going for. Oh, bonus tip here, your metabolism increases substantially with weightlifting, for the whole day thereafter the training. Reason being, you now have muscles that are a calorie burning machine. What does all of that convert to? Well, you can eat more chocolate silly, what else, he he he! Oh, Yeahh!
Since I still have your attention, let’s continue with the introductions. I am always on the lookout for new herbs to treat ailments with for either family members or myself. I am a true believer in the power of nature. Vitamins and essential oils are also a priority on my wellness list alongside herbs. Tip – try rosemary essential oil for anxiety. It really works (sorry to have sounded like an infomercial)!
I have a huge urge to bake, all day, every day, any day. It is something that I find incredibly relaxing. I love to create pretty desserts and best of all, consume them whole. This devouring normally happens within minutes for something that took me over an hour or two to make. Trust me though, it is quite worth it.
On another note, I am a devoted reader. Books are my thing. I do own an e-reader but still so much more prefer the smell of paper pages. I do not think that any technical device can capture that experience. I am all ears, and like a sponge, eager to learn.
I also am obsessed with planning by using agendas and journals. I have an iPad, laptop, tablet, and a phone, but never seem to find more satisfaction than crossing off my to-do list tasks on paper. Like my own made-up quote goes, “I am organizing my organizers.” Trust me when I say that I frequently get teased about this from family members. I just cannot refrain myself; I must cross it off that list, it is an addiction. I need help!!! Having said that, using my crafts to decorate my planner is a huge added perk. Just as well, I love utilizing my markers and find any excuse to use them. Who else loves felts, raise your hand!
I try as much as possible to live my life in a sustainable manner. Being green and conscious about everything that I do is very important to me. There is one planet that we are all situated on at this very moment, the only one currently that is capable of providing us all with something simple that we often take for granted - life. Instead of being destructive towards it, why not treat it with kindness and respect. Why do anything other than worship it.
Despite my gruesome tennis game, I am a true girly girl at heart who loves sparkles, pink, nail polish, shoes, handbags, perfumes, and most of all, jewellery. Nothing expensive, just something cute, classy, and fun. Rings are my go-to that never disappoint.
I love photography, especially of food. I find food photographs absolutely stunning. Tomatoes should be on the cover of Glamour magazine, Raspberries on Mademoiselle, and Watermelon on Cosmopolitan (okay, you get it). Who needs models when you have some papayas or mangoes that you can photograph? Just providing you with ideas!
Last but not least, I own a Class A Diesel Pusher, 45-foot Motorhome with a Tag Axle, 4 slide-outs, and a 525 ISX Engine. Yes, it is a beast. Going uphill – no problem, driving beside a huge truck, what truck, you do not even feel the turbulence. Can you tell that I loooovvve my motorhome? My bus’s name is Gus, and he will assist me in seeing the world, one place at a time. First stop, my own continent - North America.
I love nature. It is something that always puts a beam on my face, and magically assists me with making perfect decisions. It must the birds, or the trees, or the ocean, or the mountains or, or, or… This is my recommendation for the best remedy to all problems in life, nature and well, okay, okay, chocolate. There, you have it, stop the guilt and tummy filled!
Thank you very much for taking time to visit my ChocolisciouslyDelightful blog. You have no idea how appreciative I am. If there is a particular chocolate that you would like for me to review, or have questions in general, please, by all means, let me know. I would love to connect with you.
