GODIVA CHOCOLATES – CHOCOBLOGMASS ADVENT CALENDAR
Ohhh, it is off to a great start for Godiva on Day 4 of this amazing Advent Calendar Edition. What do we have here, a huge, huge piece of milk chocolate bon bon. Did I mention huge. Plentiful for an appetizer. Godiva was probably feeling super festive and giving on Day 4. The bon bon itself also looks pretty with three curvature lines embodying the chocolate. The sheen though is unfortunately looking a bit dull. I guess Godiva thought that one satisfaction per day is good enough, "the size", who cares about the rest, he he he! As for the taste, it is enormously creamy. At initial bite, I can taste the smoothness alongside a hazelnut flavour. I must say that the sugar content has been kicked down a notch, but not enough to make this an irresistible bite. It is still overwhelming. Almost there Godiva, you are heading in the right direction. Did I also mention flour and corn starch, yuck! ROGERS’ CHOCOLATES – CHOCOBLOGMASS ADVENT CALENDAR I hate to use this word repeatedly but simplicity is what Rogers’ Chocolate theme and moto seems to be. At the same time, excellence comes to mind. Milk Chocolate is today’s gift which is once again, perfectly balance between sweet and bitter. Quality and class, what more can I say. It is another great day at Rogers’. Chocolisciously Delightful Ingredients: Milk Chocolate (Sugar, Milk, Cocoa Butter, Chocolate Liquor, Soya Lecithin, Vanilla) Chocolisciously Delightful Rating: 4.8 / 5.0 PURDY’S CHOCOLATIER – CHOCOBLOGMASS ADVENT CALENDAR Milk Chocolate is the theme for Day 4 at Purdy’s. It is shaped like a bell. Humble in appearance, nice polish to it, and looks like an all-around respectable bon bon. Nothing extravagant. I think it would cater to the average individual who is looking for modesty. The chocolate itself is exceptionally sweet. Oh my, did Purdy’s “accidently” drop a pound of sugar just in that one bon bon alone. Whooooaaa! I need something, anything to balance this out. Salt, fast!!! Anyhow, not their best, truly dissatisfied. Melt is a medium, not as fast as I would have expected, and the bite is stiff. Sorry Purdy’s, today was not your day. Chocolisciously Delightful Ingredients: Unfortunately, the company did not disclose this information. I will always wonder why! Chocolisciously Delightful Rating: 1.4 / 5.0 LÄDERACH – CHOCOBLOGMASS ADVENT CALENDAR What does Läderach have in store for us today, shall we take a peek? Day 4 at Läderach is looking scrumptious. Milk chocolate with marzipan. Oh yeah, bring on the party. Once again, seriously yummmmiliscious, whoollllly, vada bom, vada bim. How do you manage to produce such heavenly chocolates Läderach, come on now, this should not be legal! The bon bon is decadent, immortal, and virtuous. Winner all around. Sweetened to perfection, smooth with a reasonable amount of crunch. I am a happy choco nut! There must be an ongoing party at Daniel’s for them to be this generous. They are high on cocoa beans, nibs, anything chocolate related that they can get their hands on. “Just give me the stuff!!!” It is just good ol’ times at Daniel’s. Milk chocolate for Day 4, and it is unpretentious. Just chocolate. Sorry to be a party blooper but here it goes. They can work on turning down their sugar content in half. Their first ingredient on the list: Sugar. People will appreciate their actual chocolate on a much deeper level if the sweetener is reduced. Something to consider. Keep up the kindness in terms of size! Chocolisciously Delightful Ingredients: Sugar, Cocoa Mass, Cocoa Butter, Dry Whole Milk, Soya Lecithin (Emulsifier), Natural Vanilla Chocolisciously Delightful Rating: 4.3 / 5.0 KINDER - CHOCOBLOGMASS ADVENT CALENDAR Unfortunately, it is now concluded that Kinder has the exact same piece of chocolate throughout their whole 24 days of the Advent Calendar. The rating is the same, and so would be the review. Kinder certainly solely has kids in mind as it feels as though the Advent Calendar is for their little fingers. The chocolate is individually wrapped. I am assuming that this has something to do with hygiene, convenience, and surprise. You can take this little bon bon to school, and open it up at lunch for example. I do not though, care much for the modified palm oil, and anhydrous milk fat (???) ingredients. Why would Kinder feed this to children? Poor choice. I find this little confectionary to be overly sweetened to the point that I think I am eating sugar. Whoa! It is just an abundance of that one ingredient. Unfortunately, it takes away from the cocoa itself but on the upside, I can really taste the milk. Children would think to differ from my opinion as the sweeter it is, the better. I guess that is the whole concept behind this Advent Calendar. After all, it says Kinder, not Erwachsene (Adult). I will let this one go since their motif it is to please the little ones. You are safe for now Kinder, until the name changes, then you have a lot of explaining to do! LOL!!! The thoughtfulness with the peanut free logo is a good emphasis but then why add all of the other gunk? Chocolisciously Delightful Ingredients: Milk Chocolate (Sugar, Milk Powder, Cocoa Butter, Cocoa Mass, Soy and/or Sunflower Lecithin, Vanillin) Sugar, Skim Milk Powder, Modified Palm Oil, Anhydrous Milk Fat, Soy and/or Sunflower Lecithin, Vanillin, 33% Milk ingredients Chocolisciously Delightful Rating: 2.4 / 5.0 LINDT - CHOCOBLOGMASS ADVENT CALENDAR Smells like chocolate and looks like chocolate today at Lindt, will that follow in taste? Let’s find out together now, shall we! Well, happy, and at the same time sad to report that I am expecting the very minimum from Lindt at this point, JUST FOR THE ADVENT CALENDAR NOT BE STALE AND RANCID is good enough for me. Today’s bon bon is somewhat decent. I at least do not need to immediately spit it out. That is a good sign. Unfortunately, the staleness is still protruding, but not on the same level as the chocolate’s predecessors. This is certainly too sweet though, and it does taste like a cheap bar that has been sitting around for too long. Lindt, you have traumatized me! Chocolisciously Delightful Ingredients: Sugar, Milk Ingredients, Cocoa Butter, Cocoa Mass, Lactose, Coconut Oil, Hazelnuts, Palm Kernel Oil, Soya Lecithin, Barley Malt Extract, Artificial Flavour Chocolisciously Delightful Rating: 0.8 / 5.0 SINFULLY THE BEST - CHOCOBLOGMASS ADVENT CALENDAR Day 4 at Sinfully The Best is a dark chocolate bon bon resembling a rose. I must mention that it is very pretty, fantastic carving to the point that whoever was involved in beautifying this should be on Cake Wars. The bon bon has the shiniest sheen. You can almost see yourself in it. Cross my fingers that it tastes as amazing as it looks. Oh, how different. There is a wafer in the middle. Nice surprise. This is actually a very tasty and pleasant piece of bon bon. The dark chocolate presented has a perfect balance between bitterness, and sweetness, and I adore the wafer crunch from the middle. Lovely thought provoking idea. It is an absolute winner today for Sinfully The Best!
