Current loves: These days, I am really enjoying the Ritter Sport Chocolate Bars. They are seriously so unique, tasteful, and believe it or not, contain all natural ingredients. Can you utterly ask for more! The packaging is really simple but yet it somehow it works. The Ritter Sport company is German, and its headquarters is stationed in a cute little town called Waldenbuch. Embrace yourselves everyone, sit back, and relax, here comes a little history. Let’s go back in time to the year 1912 when Alfred Ritter and his wife Clara founded their very own and first chocolate factory in Stuttgard-Bad Cannstatt. Over time, these chocolates became such great sellers and in very high demand that eventually led Clara and Alfred to expand their factory and move to Waldenbuch. This took place in the year 1930. The chocolate brand Ritter Sport Schokolade was launched in 1932, after Clara cheerfully made the recommendation to create a chocolate bar that would miraculously fit into every kind of a sport jacket without actually ruining it.

In the year 1990, the current 3rd generation owners, Alfred T. Ritter and his sister Marli Hoppe-Ritter, launched a project by the name of “Cacaonica”, which today supports organic cocoa agriculture, and reforestation in Nicaragua. The Ritter Company also owns a CHP power plant, and buys additional electricity from renewable resources. The chocolate packaging is strictly designed to minimize its ecological footprint. Ritter Sport is considered neither certified organic nor fair trade however, that all changed recently. In April 2008, they launched an organic product line called “Ritter Sport Bio”, which I will be on the hunt for of course to taste, test, rate, and review. Ritter also has its own museum where nearly 600 paintings, objects, sculptures, and graphic works call themselves home. There is also a gift shop in Waldenbuch that is open to visitors. How awesome is that!!! Trust me my chocolate monsters, a visit to this museum is certainly on my list of places to go. Ritter Sport, here I come. Now that I have educated you in chocolate 101, let’s just dive right into the review. This truly is a delightful bar. The chocolate is of excellent quality, and it is not overpowered by too many sweeteners. There is nothing bitter, just pure love. The melting action is right, and once that has completed, you are left to crunch almonds, lots and lots of them. Ritter was not thrifty. The aftertaste is so good that you are reaching for seconds, and thirds. I am truly impressed. There are so many nuts in this chocolate bar that it is enough to keep the blood sugar levels stable. I always recommend to have some kind of a protein with sugary foods. In this case, it happens to be the nuts. You can also sprinkle cinnamon to foods or beverages if you are not in the mood for a protein rich meal. You get the point. This all helps to balance and prevent sugar spikes. It also slows down the absorption of sugar in your body and keeps it all calm. The Ritter bar is smooth, with just the right touch of cocoa butter, enough to keep the chocolate firm. The ingredient list is super impressive, especially the amount of almonds added, 23%, WOW. The cocoa solids is also pretty high, sitting at 30%, considering that this is a milk chocolate bar and not dark. Overall, The Ritter Sport Milk Chocolate with Whole Almonds is highly recommended by your one and only chocolisciously delightful blogger, Soriah. High-Five.
