This is a very interesting brand which I recently came across by pure accident. Never seen it before, never heard about, never talked about it. The company claims that they use only the purest ingredients possible in the most sustaining ways. That is off to a good start. "For us, chocolate isn't just a product, it's a journey from bean to bar." This is a direct quote from their website. It sounds like they are very serious about their chocolates and techniques that they utilize to make their bars the best that they can be. Good motto. I am planning a trip to Seattle in order to visit their chocolate factory. That should be interesting, and loads of fun. Chocolate sampling and buying, seriously, what more could a girl want? Alrighty then, Back to the review. The chocolate itself is bitter, despite the fact that this is only a 85% cocoa, it feels as though it is more like 99%. Theo certainly held off on the sugar as it is very miniscule and faint. I do not think that this bar melts nicely at all. There is virtually a sandy taste to the bar, and the bitter aftertaste that it leaves behind is completely unbearable. I love my dark chocolate, even at 99%, but there is just something about this bar that makes it so unappetizing. I cannot pinpoint whether it is the quality of the bean or mix of ingredients. It just does not work. This is going into my baking bin as I will not be eating anymore, anytime soon. It is not a bad dark chocolate, it is just not what I expected from a company that promises so much. What I do like about it though is the fact that it is Organic, Fair Trade, and Non GMO Verified. Yeahh for all of these, two thumbs up, jump with joy, okay, the point is made. I am sorry Theo, you just did not do it for me with this particular chocolate, not this time. I am sure that you have other eggs in your baskets for me to try, test, and review. Oh, I almost forgot, this bar deserves 5 stars in the ingredient department. This will affect my rating by pushing it up a bit. Check it out, pure and simple. Gotta love that.

"Green symbolises the strict organic principles and Black represents the intensity of the chocolate." That is what the Company name implies as it is stated on their website. I actually think that it is intriguing and very original. I also really adore the packaging. Very simple but at the same time classy. The chocolate bar has quite the presence. It catches my eye every time when I am grocery shopping, even if I am aisles away. I see the Green & Black’s bars standing in an upright, stuck-up manner, just waiting to be purchased. I am a sucker and give in most days. Green & Black's, come home with me! Having said that, it is time for the review. The chocolate is surprisingly smooth. A very nice and fluid texture is revealed once it start to melt in your mouth. It is a bit on the bitter side though, partly due to the 85% dark chocolate but, I have tasted other dark bars with a higher quantity of dark cocoa, and they did not have that bitter kind of aftertaste. I do appreciate it though with a good cup of mocha. This chocolate bar feels very "healthy" if you know what I mean. “Healthy = non tasty.” Is that really true? I strongly do not believe so as I have found plenty of foods and food combinations that are extremely healthy, and yet very savoury at the same time. Green & Blacks Dark Chocolate Bar is pleasant however, in order to truly enjoy, you must have a particular acquired taste for this kind of sharply bitter dark chocolate. I urge you to try it out and see for yourself.
Ingredients: Organic Dark Chocolate (Organic Cocoa Liquor, Organic Cocoa Butter, Organic Cocoa Powder, Organic Raw Cane Sugar, Organic Vanilla Extract) Chocolisciously Delightful Rating: 4.3 / 5.0 May I “disclose” as it is “top secret” that this dark chocolate bar is an absolute delight! I cannot seem to get enough of it. So tasty, perfect amount of cane sugar and high quality chocolate. Extra bonus - 88% dark chocolate = antioxidants. Yeahh, who would not want a little health alongside yumminess. The chocolate bar itself is very smooth, melts beautifully in your mouth, that is if you allow it and have the patience, plus leaves you wanting more, much, much more. This bar will help you alter those taste buds to prefer healthier options when it comes to food. I feel great about eating something so delicious and yet nutritious. I am now certainly a poet, he he he. If that is not enough, the company is certified vegan and gluten free. They donate 10% of their net profits, and according to the company, I quote this directly from the wrapping on their chocolate bar "We buy our cocoa from small family-owned properties, helping sustain the habitats and communities in which they exist." Don't you just love this whole whimsical story? I am impressed. For all of you milk chocolate lovers out there who thought that happy life exists only on the milk cocoa side let me tell you otherwise. Step over to this dark chocolate city, and you might be pleasantly surprised.
Ingredients: Dark Chocolate, (Chocolate Liquor, Cane Sugar, Soy Lecithin, Vanilla) Chocolisciously Delightful: 4.7 / 5.0 Easter came and went, ever so quickly this year. Goodbye little Easter Chocolate Eggs. No problem, we are not running out of cocoa anytime soon, unless I eat it all of course. Okay, let's dive straight into the review. These chocolate eggs are quite plain, there is no filling in the middle. It is hollow, filled with air, a hole. It does not mean that it is a bad thing, I just found the chocolate itself to be not of Lindt's best. I do not know if they have been mixed with something extra lousy that is not listed on the ingredient list, or perhaps the process of creating the chocolate has changed with these eggs, but they are no good. Wow, a bad Lindt review. There is a first for everything. If I had been blindfolded for a chocolate taste test, I would have thought that these chocolates come straight from the Dollar store. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with shopping at the Dollar store, by all means. I at times, purchase a thing or two from there, I am completely guilty of that. However, most of the food items that I have come across are stale and cheaply made, despite the fact that some items are brand names. I think that manufacturers make things specifically designated to be shipped to the Dollar store and most products are altered. That is how the $1.00 per item can be justified and still makes a profit. I am not a professional in this economics field but I do know a thing or two about that subject. Back to the review. I think that I pretty much summoned it up. Bottom line: low quality chocolate, melts with a bitter aftertaste, overly-sweetened to the point that I now have to go and drink cups of coffee with cinnamon to bring my sugar levels down. Trust me, the only way that I will take another bite of these Easter eggs is if I use them for baking cookies, and even that is a generous comment.
Ingredients: Sugar, Cocoa Butter, Milk Ingredients, Cocoa Mass, Lactose, Soya Lecithin, Barley Malt Extract, Artificial Flavour Chocolisciously Delightful Rating: 1.3 / 5.0 Yet another Lindt review. What can I say, they make amazing chocolate. I have not yet been disappointed, and I am including this bar in the batch. Hazelnut and chocolate combined are probably one of the most outstanding combinations. They are boyfriend and girlfriend, mostly always together, which is how they function best. This chocolate bar delivers, and trust me, it delivers all. 34% hazelnuts, innocently dropped for a scrumptious delight, I do not doubt that. The whole bar has hazelnut bumps protruding from all angles. Lindt did not deceit. Yeahh. 34% it is. The chocolate is milk, but not abundant in taste with sugar, it is almost borderline between semi-sweet dark and milk. Truly appreciated! The chocolate melts beautifully in your mouth, and quite quickly, as though the hazelnuts cannot wait to emerge from their dungeon. Once on the surface, the show has began. Hazelnuts everywhere, left, right, center. I am overwhelmed, and in a pure heavenly state. All there is left to do is bite for a further delight. That rhymes, see what this chocolate bar makes me do. I am now a poet. Okay chocolate monsters out there, if you are in for an affordable treat that will not break the bank, try hazelnut world. It is one amazing place.
Ingredients: Sugar, Hazelnuts (34%), Cocoa Mass, Cocoa Butter, Milk Ingredients, Lactose, Soya Lecithin, Barley Malt Extract, Artificial Flavour, Almonds Chocolisciously Delightful Rating: 4.7 / 5.0 Chocolate XOXOX is actually quite appealing, in terms of packaging. I love the orange wrapping paper and golden heart stamp embedded in a flower. There is even a love poem included that is supposedly from Astrophil and Stella, an English sonnet sequence containing 108 sonnets and 11 songs. The name comes from two Greek words 'aster (star) and 'phil' (lover), and the Latin word 'stella' meaning star. Astrophil is the star lover, and Stella is his star. How adorable and very romantic, oh la la. Anyhow, let’s not get carried away with the lovely poetry and get back to the review. That is what you are all here for I assume. This chocolate bar is commendable, super subtle in overall taste, and mildly sweet. The fact that the sugar content is not that noticeable as it is enveloped in a semi-sweet chocolate makes this bar ever so more appealing. It also helps that there is 55% dark cocoa to prevent overly syrupy intoxication. The orange peel is quite understated, just a pinch. Less is more in this case. The chocolate is Belgium and of very good quality. There is a pleasantly soft lasting finish when the bite sized pieces melt in your mouth. I truly enjoy the smoothness, and the subtle taste had me coming back for more. There is no bitter aftertaste, just a pleasant punch. The Dark Chocolate Orange Peel chocolate bar is great accompanied with sparkling water.
Ingredients: Dark Chocolate (Cocoa, Liquor, Sugar, Cocoa Butter, Soy Lecithin, Vanilla), Freeze Dried Orange Peel, Orange Oil Chocolisciously Delightful Rating: 3.6 / 5.0 Here comes a review that my partner will absolutely love reading. I purchased this chocolate bar about a week ago during Easter weekend at the Lindt boutique. We took a quick detour just to purchase my chocolates, and my partner and I then continued on our weekend gateway not knowing what kind of a delight we have sitting just in the backseat of our vehicle. Once we reached Osoyoos, a pretty warm destination and the first stop on our mini-trip, I took all my chocolates out of the bag to photograph. As you can see, the background in the photo is super neat. Anyhow, once it was all completed, I felt quite hungry as I had not yet eaten breakfast. I thought to myself, okay, I can start the day off with a few bites of chocolate, no harm done but pure enjoyment. Warning, yes, chocolate is always a huge plus in my books, but not to awaken your body first thing in the morning. Since it has sugar and caffeine, it does get you going for the day in the same way that a jolt from coffee does. However, your body will most likely crash a few hours later since there is a lack of protein and healthy carbs to accompany the meal. Sorry to detour and "bore" you with this scientific stuff. A little lesson in Nutrition 101.
Having said all of that, this Lindt Swiss Classic bar is the one that I chose to open for a scrumptious breakfast. Wow, wow, wow. Seriously, we could not get enough of this exquisite chocolate that captivated us both. This is the most amazing combination of hazelnuts, raisins, and almonds, dunked and dropped in a ton of chocolate. Perfection, absolute Excellency. The chocolate is of a smooth consistency with just the right amount of sugar. I think that the reason for the low quantity of added sugars is due to the raisins which naturally sweeten the bar. As soon as the chocolate has melted in your mouth, first noticeable ingredient is the hazelnut. It just lingers around, and waits to be crushed. Raisins come in play thereafter and are definitely noticeable, nothing faint about them. The almonds are the most subtle of all the ingredients with just a hint. There is honestly no downside to the Lindt Swiss Classic bar. I am almost afraid to give it a perfect 5, but it might be deserving.
